Author: Justyna Majewska
Description: This lesson discusses the stages of the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto. On 22 July 1942, Germans began to transport the local Jewish population to the Treblinka death camp. A total of ca. 265,000 Jews were displaced between July and September. The lesson includes descriptions of how the rumours of mass genocide started to spread around the ghetto, information on people who managed to escape from the camp and spread awareness of the real nature of the "resettlement" among the Jews of Warsaw, on the resistance put up by Jews, and on the Polish reactions to the events taking place in the ghetto.
