Description: Even though the news of mass murders committed in the East reached the Free World as early as 1941, for a long time it was considered unreliable. It was not until May 1942 that the so-called "first Bund letter" reached London, informing of the annihilation of the Jewish communities of Poland.
This lesson presents the stages of reporting about the Holocaust to the world. You will learn about the figures who contributed to raising awareness of the genocide, for example Jan Karski or Szmul Zygielbojm. The lesson also discusses the attitudes and actions taken by the Polish Underground State and other countries. You will discovere the route followed by the information of the Holocaust before it finally became public knowledge.
